STRONG FUNDAMENTALS
“Successful people aren’t born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don’t like to do.” ―William Makepeace Thackeray
We love Montessori and Unschooling, but at the same time, we believe that it is important to create small learning habits that are repetitive, and some of them even stay for life. We call it a core knowledge that should be a part of a daily routine. There are 2 main components:
READING
MATH
We inspire kids to read a minimum of 30' each day. They can choose what they want to read, but they do it daily. Reading helps to process thoughts, expend imagination and horizons, reinforces spelling, teaches how to express yourself, and convey ideas. This habit is a common denominator between all successful people. And our goal is that anyone that graduates from our school will continue to read till their last day on earth for a minimum of 30' /day.
It is our goal that the kids will learn mathematics 60 min each day. Math is a language of logic and interpretation. We believe that regardless of the passion the children decide to pursue they need a strong math foundation to be able to understand the news and any text and be able to logically analyze it. Numbers can be interpreted in many different ways and it is imperative that kids are able to decide for themselves if the presented data is omitting important questions and is skewed. They need to be able to decide if it makes sense.
